SITTING Room Comedy is launching stand-up comedy events in Leeds, following on from successful regular shows in Harrogate and York.

Sitting Room’s opening show in Leeds will be at the Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen on Thursday April 9.

Topping the bill on the first night will be Mike Gunn who has recently returned from supporting Lee Mack on his 50-date tour.

In 2010, Mike became one of the stars of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow appearing alongside McIntyre, Hal Cruttenden, Seann Walsh and Noel Fielding. He has also appeared on Celebrity Deal or No Deal, Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Al Murray’s sitcom Time Gentlemen Please and Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store.

Mike will be joined by Foster’s Comedy Award winner Mick Ferry and the hotly tipped Jonny Pelham.

Mick began his assault on the stand-up circuit in 1998 and quickly made it to the finals of Channel 4’s esteemed So You Think You’re Funny? competition. More recently, in 2013, he was voted Best Live UK Stand-Up by fellow comedians and promoters.

Mick’s TV credits also include Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow as well as appearances on Comedy Blue, The Comedy Store and John Bishop’s Only Joking.

One of the most talked about new acts in the country, Jonny Pelham was runner-up in the Chortle Student Comedy Award and So You Think You’re Funny? before sealing third place in the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2013 competition.

In the same year, Jonny reached the final of the BBC Radio New Comedy Award and, in 2014, was nominated for the Chortle Awards Best Newcomer.

Completing the line-up, the charming and mischievous Danny Deegan will act as host and compère.

Event promoter, Tom Taylor said: “I’m really excited about bringing Sitting Room to Leeds, it’s a great city for comedy and I’m looking forward to contributing to that scene.

“Our ethos has always been to provide high quality comedy at affordable prices and at venues that are just that little bit different. With the shows we’ve got programmed at the Belgrave we hit on all those fronts. Acts you’ve seen at the Apollo for just a tenner.”

Tickets for the April 9 show at the Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen, Leeds at 8pm are priced at £10 from sittingroomcomedy.com.
