LEEDS Amateur Operatic Society is marking its 125th anniversary by presenting the Mark Shaiman musical Hairspray at the Grand Theatre, Leeds, from Tuesday, March 17 to Saturday, March 21.

Tracy is played by Megan Elsegood, from Bradford and Richard Billings, from Hemsworth plays the part of Edna Turnblad.

Peter Whitley from Bingley plays the part of Wilbur Turnblad.

Tim Gough from Denby Dale plays the part of Link Larkin.

Katie Melia from York plays the part of Penny Pingleton and Georgie Gladwyn from Harrogate plays the part of Penny Pingleton. Lizzie Nunn from Tadcaster plays the part of Amber von Tussel.

Susan Wilcock from Leeds plays Velma von Tussel. Pat Bell from Bradford plays the part of Motormouth Maybelle.Chris Knight from Harrogate plays the part of Seaweed J Stubbs on his first appearance with LAOS.

Ben Walton from Leeds returns to LAOS to play Corney Collins after last playing Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast at the Grand in 2010.

Erin Chapman and Zaccaia Newman-Richards both from Leeds will alternate in the part of Little Inez having both played in the children’s chorus in King and I at the Grand in 2009.
