AMERICANA folk duo the Black Feathers are making their way to Saltaire's Live Room.

The award-winning Gloucestershire acoustic act are touring following the release of critically acclaimed debut five-track EP, Strangers We Meet, which showcased their distinctive sound influenced by English folk, Irish heritage and American blue grass harmonies.

The twin voices and one guitar of Sian Chandler and Ray Hughes make music that is "aware of the weight of history upon it", blending English pastoral sounds, passions of the Celtic fringe

and the dark resonance of the American southeast. The duo, who have played together for years, made the decision to break away from other projects enabling them to concentrate on writing and performing their own material.

Since their debut show in May 2012, the Black Feathers have been busy touring the country and have proved a hit at festivals, including the Cambridge Folk Festival.

They are developing a fan base in America too, have completed a tour in and around Nashville, Tennessee.

They will be at the Live Room, Caroline Social Club, Saltaire, on Friday, August 22.
