A PROUD former cricketer showed off a winning ball in this photograph from the archives of the Wharfedale Observer.
Harold Harrison, of Yeadon, had used the ball to take 10 wickets for 18 runs in a league match nearly 50 years earlier. In the undated photograph Mr and Mrs Harrison, who had just celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, are pictured with their grandson Christopher.
A picture from a bygone age of journalism shows the two longest-serving keyboard operators in the Wharfedale Observer’s type-setting department. Mr A. P. Abram had 51 years service, while Mr P. Johnson had 49 years service when the photograph was taken.
