Otley Town 0 Robin Hood Athletic 1

OTLEY Town suffered a damaging defeat to fellow West Yorkshire League Premier Division strugglers Robin Hood, and are now staring relegation firmly in the face.

In a poor spectacle, both sides failed to play much football of note, and it looked like a drab goalless draw would be played out until late in the game. Town failed to react first following a smart save from goalkeeper Andy Doey leaving a tap-in for a gleeful Robin Hood player.

Best on the day for the home side was Scott Firth, who was responsible for the few moments of danger Town created, including a beautifully struck corner-kick that curled in the air and hit the crossbar and a fierce shot that the goalkeeper did well to beat away.

It must be said that the referee did little to help the game flow, and made some questionable decisions that left many players from both teams frustrated, including Firth who picked up a yellow card. However, worse was to follow as he was shown a straight red card after the match for abusing the officials.

This Saturday sees top of the table Field visit the Old Showfield (2.30pm).
