Liverpool Sefton 0, Ben Rhydding Ladies 2
BEN Rhydding climbed to joint-fifth in the Investec Conference North League table after a successful trip along the M62 to face a Sefton side who had been sitting just a point ahead of the Ilkley visitors prior to the start.
Rhydding started well, creating numerous chances through open play and penalty corners, but found the Liverpool keeper in fine form.
After wise words from coach Issy MacDonald, Rhydding maintained their composure throughout the game and forced the hosts into errors in their defensive circle.
Player of the match Jo Ellis pounced on a loose ball in the circle after the penalty corner shot had been saved and a reverse-stick strike hit the back board with three minutes to go.
Rhydding kept on the pressure and doubled their lead in the last minute with a penalty-corner shot from Tanisa Jansen.
Sunday saw the ladies in action again, this time in the Investec Cup against Nottingham side Boots, and they won 5-1.
Goals came from Michelle Morris (2), Laura Smith, Jo Ellis and Rebecca Dallas as Rhydding earned a home third-round tie against Oxford Hawks.
Rhydding have a rest this weekend and resume on November 8 with a home league game against Whitley Bay.
