Ilkley & District Motor Club's Car Trial on Sunday was dominated by John Spencer in his Clan.

John, from Cookridge, dropped zero marks after 32 demanding hills at Bolton Abbey, where the hot conditions made it very difficult for clerk of the course Nick Cooper to stop the competitors.

John’s daughter Karen was next best, dropping 11 marks and winning Class Three. Henry Kitching, from Baildon in his Corsa, won Class Two, dropping 15 marks, and Neil Raven from Yeadon was second in that class, dropping 36 in a borrowed Clio.

Nick Pullan from Otley, in a little Suzuki Alto, won Class One, dropping 37 marks, with wife Hazel, in the same car, taking the ladies' award.

Ilkley extended there lead over North Humberside Motor Club in the Yorkshire District League by winning on the day and amassing 183.3 points to take their lead to an impressive 343.8 points after five rounds.
