OTLEY Town’s summer recruitment drive is continuing to gather momentum and it shows no signs of stopping.

On Tuesday afternoon Oli Carter was the latest acquisition to be announced by the club – making him Town’s 11th signing in the process.

Join first team managers Chris Holland and Harley Hirst, who took over from Richard Suddes and Andy Foster following their decision to step down as first team bosses on May 29, are building a strong foundation for next season with the recent additions they have made.

Tricky winger Calvin Clavecillas, Prolific striker Jack Barker, midfielder Reece Pickering, Mofe Fregene, 19 year- old Josh Sheffield and Left back Isaac Turner were the fist handful of additions to arrive through the door.

Those players have been followed into Otley by former Thackley midfielder Matthew Lofthouse, midfielder Craig Sinclair, Guiseley academy star Jacob Johnson and Carter who became the 11th addition on Tuesday – a player who Holland and Hirst are delighted to have on board.

Discussing the arrival of Carter, who has over 200 West Yorkshire League Premier Division appearances to his name, Hirst said: "Chris and I are absolutely delighted Oli has decided to join us at Otley Town. He’s a classy central midfielder who dictates play and really sets the tempo; he chips in with his fair share of goals too. His experience of the WYL Prem will be a valuable asset to the squad."

Joint first team manager Holland added: “"Oli is a player I've been trying to sign for a couple of seasons now, he has proven pedigree at this level of football and will be a really good addition to our already talented squad. He scored in my final game in charge at Headingley and I look forward to him hitting the back of the net in orange this season.”

Barker, the club’s second signing of the summer, has particularly impressed Hirst.

He said: “We’re delighted to get Jack’s commitment for the season ahead, in recent years he’s proven himself as a real threat in front of goal and his stats back it up. We’re hoping he can continue this in an Otley Shirt as we head into the 23/24 season.”

Chairman Kai Arter had this to say on the Hirst and Holland appointment: "Chris and Harley have worked together previously and complement each other in their respective styles. I have been very impressed by their plans and ambition for the club. It is great to see that the enthusiasm that they bring and they are already actively looking to bring in new players to strengthen the existing squads. "

Holland added: "I am delighted to be appointed as joint first team manager of Otley Town FC. I am excited to work alongside Harley Hirst and the rest of the staff across our four senior Saturday teams and I am confident that we can bring the club success in the short and long term. “Harley and I have a proven track record of working well together and I’m excited to share a dugout with him again next season.

“I have been impressed by the club's ambition and its commitment to developing young players, it was a pleasure to spend time at the junior festival over the bank holiday weekend and see hundreds of young footballers enjoying the game at our club. I believe that we have the potential to achieve great things together.”
