GUISELEY will play a Barnsley X1 side in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023/24 campaign at Nethermoor in July.

The game will take place on Tuesday 11 July with kick-off at 7:45pm, ticket details will be confirmed in due course.

The Lions have close links with Barnsley having taken several players on loan from their youth set up last season including Joe Ackroyd, Keegan Hartley, Harrison Nejman and Kareem Hassan-Smith.

Barnsley also made the trip to Nethermoor last season for a friendly and ran out 2-1 winners.

The Tykes just missed out on promotion back to the Championship in the play off final at Wembley when Sheffield Wednesday struck in extra time during the second half.

Former loanees Joe Ackroyd and Harrison Nejman could be included in Barnsley’s squad for the clash with the pair both having a new contract offer on the table.

The clash with the South Yorkshire side is Guiseley's eighth confirmed friendly with Curzon Ashton, Scarborough, Farsley Celtic and Spennymoor Town all due to visit Nethermoor with trips to Brighouse Town, Avro and Thackley also in the schedule.
