GUISELEY have announced the signing of Mark Lees following his release from Matlock Town.
The defensive midfielder played under Lions' boss Paul Phillips for the Gladiators and has come up against the Nethermoor side on several occasions over the years.
The 34 year-old from Manchester won Matlock’s Managers’ Player of the Season award at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Lees is well known to the management team having worked with them on three occasions at Ashton United, Stalybridge Celtic and Matlock Town.
Paul Phillips has previously sung the praises of the midfielder , saying “He’s another lad who’s been there and done it and can play in a number of positions. He’s as fit as a fiddle and knows the standards I set on the pitch. He’s looked after himself and has that winning mentality which is so important.”
Lees started his career in 2008 with New Mills and has gone on to play for Buxton, Ashton United, Hyde United, Stalybridge Celtic, Stockport County, Mossley and Wythenshawe Town.
Guiseley have since confirmed the departures of Zak Dearnley to Stocksbridge Park Steels and Angus Chapman, who has left the club to return to his homeland in Australia.
