HARRY Brook made his debut for England on Wednesday night, completing a remarkable 12 months for the Airedale-born 22-year-old.

Few outside Yorkshire were aware of what the young batsman was capable of ahead of the 2021 season, but he ended up being one of the standout batsman of the year.

He was in the top-10 scorers of the Hundred, despite playing just five innings, he scored two centuries and five half-centuries in first-class cricket, and in the T20 Blast, he averaged a remarkable 69.42 as the Vikings reached the quarter-finals.

Brook, who was raised in Burley-in-Wharfedale, had his stellar year recognised by being called up to the England Lions tour of Australia over the winter, before taking part in the Big Bash League Down Under with Hobart Hurricanes.

And he is now out in Barbados with England's first team for their five-match T20 series against the West Indies, alongside Bradford leggie Adil Rashid.

Brook did not play in either of the first two games, but he came in to bat at seven during game three on Wednesday, after having being handed his maiden England cap by former Yorkshire captain, and Bradfordian, Anthony McGrath, who is with England as a consultant batting coach.

It wasn't the best of starts for the 22-year-old, as he could only make 10 from 13 balls in England's 20-run defeat, but he will be hoping for a second chance to make his mark in the fourth T20 tomorrow.
