ILKLEY Town’s visit to Whitkirk Wanderers in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division ended in drama at the weekend, with the game being abandoned midway through the second half.

The game escalated into chaos as the hosts saw three of their players sent off.

Two Whitkirk players also went off injured, resulting in the referee ending proceedings early.

It was 10-man Wanderers who raced into an unlikely 2-0 lead at the break.

However, that advantage proved short-lived, as they had two more players sent off shortly after the interval, with Ilkley taking full advantage against eight men to go 3-2 ahead.

Their goals came courtesy of Harry Brown, George Gomersall and substitute Kevin Gonzales.

Town's chairman Richard Giles explained afterwards that the game will now have to go the league committee to decide what happens next, but he is hopeful his side will be awarded the three points.

Elsewhere, Field’s home match against Huddersfield Amateur was postponed.

Salts remain in touching distance of Division One leaders Rawdon Old Boys, as they earned a tense 1-0 victory away to Wyke Wanderers.

Alexander Stewart scored the only goal of the game.

Otley Town produced a five-star display, in a 5-0 thumping of Featherstone Colliery.

The victory leaves Town in fourth, just two points off third-placed Aberford Albion.

But Pool came up short against Glasshoughton Rock in a 2-0 away defeat.

Josh Prudhoe and Ben Rudge struck for the hosts.

In Division Two, Brighouse Sports battled out a thrilling 3-3 home draw against Old Centralians. Billy Farrell, Chris Allan and Gareth Bates supplied the goods for the hosts.
