TWO riders from Bradford worked together superbly to take home first place in a Yorkshire A.C.U. team trial.

Cleckheaton's John Hillam, Baildon's Nigel Scott and Halifax's Neil Wright beat off the competition to reign supreme at Cartworth Moor, Holmfirth.

Rawdon's Sam Beecroft-Penny topped the awards list in the annual A & A Westerby trial, the other race the Huddersfield Falcon club staged in a fine double header.

The Westerby classes were conventional with hard, mid hard and easy section flagging.

Leeds builder Liam Walker and Falcon member Gavin Black headed six hard route contenders. The latter edged out Barnoldswick engineer Anthony Ayrton for the inter class top award.

Ilkley decorator Graham Tales won Clubman A from Anthony Brown, while Falcon member Tony Heath foiled a Tales double by defeating Andy in the Clubman B category.

Elsewhere, 50 riders from Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club competed at Brown’s Wood, Dob Park in Otley.

The Small Wheels contingent, just seven youngsters, were riding their own six section course in the quarry area well away from the adult route.

Mike Hinch and Lisa Eagleton managed the action of the Oset brigade where Ruby Lawrie, Alanna Eagleton and Austin Abdale ruled the classes.

Joe Jennings won the hard route class despite a first lap failure in section three, which also stopped clerk of the course Danny Cockshott, Harry McLoughlin, Alice Minta and Tom Middleton.

Elliott Laws posted a strong three while only Harry Bowyer managed a clean ride. Middle class winner John Bannster ran without penalty through the fourth and five sections to beat Philip Blacka who struggled in five and six.

Karl Greaves was under pressure from Robin Luscombe and Chris Laws on the easy course.

Rob Shepherd observed the never ending section eight in Dob, where the plunge into the stream was followed by a charge up a rocky bank and flight over a four foot high rock ledge.
