BRADFORD (Park Avenue) have done some brilliant business in bringing back fan favourite Adam Nowakowski for only £1 a week.

With the current pandemic effecting every club's finances, through no matchday income and clubhouse revenue, the midfielder has offered to help during these testing times by playing for virtually nothing.

The 32-year-old Bradfordian has seen it all in his four years at Horsfall and will improve Mark Bower's squad with his attitude and versatility.

Nowakowski, who has made over 100 appearances for Avenue, wanted to repay the club for the faith they have shown in him over the past few years.

He said: "I’m pleased to have signed for Mark and Danny (Boshell) for another season at Bradford (Park Avenue).

"I enjoy the style of football that they play and they always create a great dressing room.

"On top of that, I wanted to give something back to non league football which has been so good towards me over the years.

"The pandemic means that there is lots of financial unknowns this season, not just for the Avenue but all non league clubs.

"So, I decided to offer to sign on £1 per week to help support the club during this difficult period.

"I can't wait to get started and I know all of the squad are looking forward to seeing supports return (under safe government guidelines) following a long period without football."

Bower was pleased to retain the former Harrogate Town and Darlington player, and thinks he may play a pivotal part in the 2020/21 season.

He said: "Adam’s been a really important player for us for the past two seasons playing in several positions and always having an impact in games.

"His versatility and personality have made him a really popular member of the squad both within the dressing room and amongst the supporters.

"He has gone above and beyond in committing to us next season and we are delighted that he has done so."

The club have put on record their thanks to Nowakowski for such an incredible act of generosity.
