Craven League tie for Haworth and Crossflatts as Bingley win

Rowell, who hit six fours and eight sixes in his blast in the Covid Regional Competition match, admitted: "I decided I had to go for it when I had made about 50 - enough was enough.

"It is right up there in terms of my best innings but I was dropped when I was in my thirties or forties."

Rowell made an astonishing 82 per cent of his side's runs in the Group B Covid Regional Competition game, with the next highest scorer in their 128-7 being Nick Trowers with eight at No 7 as numbers three to six all made ducks - Dan Trowers, Jacob Stephens, skipper Damian Rowell and Danny Spencer.

Haworth were 42-5 at one stage before Jamie Rowell added 63 with Nick Trowers.

Jim O'Hara (3-14), Mayank Singh (2-22) and Wasim Hussain (2-34) were in the wickets for Flatts, who slumped to 44-6 in reply.

Keeper Nathan Bradbury (36, including two fours and four sixes) and Hussain, whose 36 contained six fours and a six, added 53 for the seventh wicket but they still needed a last-wicket stand of 15 between Alex Bradbury (6no) and Singh (8) to reach parity, before the latter was run out to ensure a thrilling tie.

Damian Rowell took 4-11, Jamie Rowell 2-20 and Neil Rollins 2-42, and Jamie Rowell concluded: "We spilled a couple of chances in the field but I am never going to blame fielders."

Opener George Hicks has settled in well at Bingley Congs, making 56 at home to Cowling to add to his 49 in the season starter at Crossflatts.

Hicks added 46 for the fourth wicket with Charlie Raistrick (13) but the former's dismissal triggered a collapse from 94-3 to 94-6 and Congs could only total 127 as Mohammed Usman Shah (3-21) and Laiq Ur Rehman (3-22) held the whip hand.

Wickets were shared in Cowling's reply of 74 as Mohammed Adil (3-6), Steve Broughton (3-29) and Jimmy Dennison (2-13) shone, with Mark Adams top-scoring with 21.

Goyer Ayoub was the key man for Haworth Road Meths in Group C.

He made 57 of their 163-8 at home to Wilsden, with Ian Robson (25) and Charlie Hainsworth (20) giving support as Ben Mitchell took 5-39 and Imran Khan 2-28.

Wilsden had six players in double figures but no-one dominated in their reply of 118-8, with opener Pete Longley the best on 26 as Shahid Saleem bagged 4-29, Andy Maude 2-27 and Ayoub 2-31.

Jonny Thompson was in devastating form with the ball for Hepworth & Idle at home to Denholme.

He took 7-17 as the visitors were dismissed for 128, despite 60 from Ben Burkill and 21 from Adam Taylor, who added 74 for the first wicket.

Denholme had two collapses - from 95-1 to 107-5 and 120-5 to 128 all out - but Hepworth & Idle needed those bursts as they had only made 146-7 themselves, with Thompson (29) and Joe Allatt (28) leading the way against Ryan Judson (3-34), Burkill (2-33) and Ryan Clark (2-37).

Father and son Tony and Jonny Teale added 40 for the eighth wicket in 10-man Congs II's 110-8 at Airedale.

Tony Teale finished on 49 not out, with Ben Nattrass and Matty Brian next best on 11 each as the visitors struggled against Josh Coppack (3-20), Waseem Qureshi (2-13) and Scott Ritchie (2-29).

Airedale struggled even more, however, and were toppled for 69, collapsing from 64-6 to skipper Jonny Teale (3-12) and Brian (2-5), with Ben Wooler the highest scorer on 16.

In Group D, Jordan Bayliss played a crucial hand as Eldwick & Gilstead won a low-scoring match at Grange Road.

The No 9's 32 not out spurred E&G to a two-wicket win over Hepworth & Idle II.

The visitors had made 88, with home skipper Arnie Raistrick taking 3-26 and Andrew Stephenson 2-9 as Owen Price (19), Dave Dunne (18) and Dave Matthews (14) dug in.

Matthew Rogers (13no) helped Bayliss across the line, despite Dave Matthews (3-8), Price (3-21) and Dunne (2-9).

You couldn't keep Shahbaz Ahmed out of the game at Golden View - mind you it helps when there is one playing for either side.

One of the stands of the day came there, where Ahsan Rizwan (74no) and Stephen Butterfield (63no) eventually made the latter glad that he had won the toss for hosts Long Lee against Bradford & Bingley III.

The home side were 99-6 before the unbroken partnership of 137, with Rizwan hitting three fours and seven sixes and Butterfield seven fours and two sixes after keeper James Fulwood (32) and Ahmed (23) had added 55 for the fourth wicket.

The other Shahbaz Ahmed was the best bowler for B&B, taking 3-42, but it is best not to dwell too much on the figures of Oliver Gokhale (0-39 off four) and Ryan Downing (0-16 off one) during the later mayhem.

Bradford & Bingley were dismissed for 99, with skipper Adam Swallow making 22 not out at No 9 as Ahmed took 3-11 and Rizwan 3-28.

Michael Bailey was in the runs again for Crossflatts II.

His 54 at home to Riddlesden can be added to his 70 of the season opener against Hepworth & Idle II and his latest knock guided his team to a six-wicket victory.

He was joined by Tom Greenwood (30no) in an unbroken stand of 91 for the fifth wicket after the nuggety Bryan Freimanis had made 28 and Kieran Temprell 27.

Husnain Zak had the best figures of 2-32 as Riddlesden used eight bowlers, and Crossflatts II almost matched them before tea, using seven in Riddlesden's 180-5,.

David Robinson made 55, adding 57 with fellow opener Mohammed Qadeer (26), while there were also stands of 52 between Robinson and Mohammed Zaman (34) for the third wicket and 52 unbroken between Mohammed Gulnawaz (27no) and Jamil Hussain (18no) for the sixth.

Vijay Amirtharaj (4-25) was the most deadly of the crop of Crossflatts bowlers.

Oakworth III made it a treble of wins for their club in week two with a two-wicket win over Bingley Congs III in Group F at Haworth West End, despite no-one among the hosts reaching double figures.

Tim Summers (16no) carried his bat for Congs in their 39 at their former home as David Picton (4-3), Jacob Davies (2-8) and Jake Keslinke (2-16) weighed in.

Keeper Steve Cox (9), who opened, No 3 Keslinke (9no) and No 10 Jim Staton (9no) helped Oakworth across the line from 16-7, with the latter two adding 24 unbroken.

Andrew Copping took 5-2 from nine overs but still ended up on the losing side, with skipper Simon Webster backing him with 2-14.

The newly-signed Jack Ryan wasted no time in making his mark for Bradley II.

Despite being the eighth bowler used, he bagged a very rare double hat-trick in his 6-6 against Skipton CI II at Sandylands in Group G.

Firstly he dismissed Matt Ryder, Rob Suter and Bruce Woodhouse and then Matt Cornish, Vaqas Nawaz and Paul Smith in his 3.1-over spell as CI went from 93-4 to 113 all out.

Not content with that stellar performance, the son of skipper David Ryan then top-scored with 34 as Bradley won by six wickets, with George Bell (26) and opener Henry Meynell (22no) also contributing.
