A GROUP of ladies from Ilkley Golf Club have raised over £350 for a local charity at their first golfing event of the season.
The event was entered by 66 ladies and was the first tournament post lockdown.
The stableford competition was played in pairs with the best score counting on each hole.
After the top three teams all scored 41 points, Liz Packett and captain Kath Chivers were crowned eventual winners due to a countback, edging past Judith Wood Robertson and Gill Bean, and Jane Kroon and Kate Spencer.
The money raised will go to Aireborough Supported Activities Scheme, which provides respite care for children and adults with additional needs.
Chivers said: "I was thrilled to see so many ladies back on the course and enjoying their game. The donations received were an added bonus after such a tragic start to the year.
"The lockdown period was a difficult time for many our older members who we supported through a ‘Golfing Gofer Scheme’.
"Any lady member who needed support with shopping or the collection of prescriptions was helped by a group of younger members. Many friendships have developed as a result of the pandemic."
