POOL came close to sharing the spoils with joint leaders Wetherby Athletic in the West Yorkshire League Division 1, before narrowly losing out 2-1 at home.
The hosts played some good football down both flanks and came close to scoring early on when Billy Drakes header was cleared off the line.
A perfectly placed Ryan Firth header eventually broke the deadlock for Pool.
The home team were looking comfortable into the second half, but took their foot off the gas allowing Wetherby into the match.
Keeper Andy Doey made a couple of good saves before a pinpoint cross and powerful header gave him no chance as Wetherby equalised.
The visitors continued to attack but the the 10th-placed team's defence was solid until a double goal line clearance, the third attempt finding the net.
Pool went all out for the leveller, but were unable to find the vital finish.
