WILD boar piglets could not stop one Airecentre Pacer from claiming a top category finish at a race in Spain.

Margaret Britton, Pacers' racing ambassador to the Costa del Sol, competed in the annual Molienda de Riogordo race held in the Sierra high above Malaga.

The hilly 10k race is part of a fiesta to celebrate the first pressing of the olives and she duly won a litre of extra virgin olive oil as fourth lady overall and first FV55 in 1:19.59.

The race was unexpectedly diverted and became 14k in total when wild boar piglets stationed themselves on the main route, meaning participants were forced to alter their tracks; all good training for her planned tilt at the Malaga Half Marathon in March.

Meanwhile, Pacer Richard Walker ran an outstanding race to finish third in the Settle 10-miler run by the aptly named “It’s Grim Up North” organisation.

In pretty atrocious conditions, Walker crossed the line in 1:07.43.

Just down the road in the more noble surroundings of Harewood House, Helen Illman, running her first race in two years, ran the British Heart Foundation 10k and clocked a time of 54.13.

Meanwhile, Jason Stowe ran a heart shaped Parkrun in the city of love – Paris.
