A LATE winner denied Pool Reserves a point as they lost 2-1 to Sherburn White Rose Reserves in stormy conditions on Saturday.

The West Yorkshire League Alliance Division Two match survived Storm Dennis as Sherburn used their access to a 3G pitch at Sherburn High School.

As Sherburn use this pitch frequently, it was likely to be to their advantage, but Pool used the flat surface well, playing some excellent one touch football.

The match was entertaining, but few chances were created.

A few errors gave Sherburn their chances, and one of them was taken to give the home side a first half lead.

Pool's stand-in keeper, Elouan Rapenne, made several good saves, including an excellent penalty save.

This kept Pool in the match, and they scored a deserved equaliser when the Sherburn keeper could only parry a powerful shot from Jordan Drake. Ollie Metcalfe was on hand to fire home the rebound.

It was looking like a fair point apiece until a break down the right from Sherburn resulted in a powerful cross, which ended up flying into the top corner from a ridiculous angle to rob Pool of the point they deserved.

* Pool's first team match with Otley Town in the Wharfedale Cup semi-final was postponed on Saturday. The cup match has been re-scheduled for Saturday, March 21.
