GUISELEY have been dealt a blow in their Vanarama National League North play-off challenge, after goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst joined Carlisle United on Deadline Day.

Sheffield United stopper Dewhurst first came in on loan at Guiseley in December 2018, before rejoining the club in September 2019.

The 18-year-old is in good form at the moment, and was part of a Lions side that had kept four clean sheets in their last nine games.

But the Blades have called him back and immediately sent him out to League Two side Carlisle, where he will face a much tougher challenge to nail down a place in the starting line up.

It is not ideal preparation for Guiseley, who face a crucial away game against seventh-placed Darlington tomorrow.
