POOL progressed to the semi-final Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup beating Horsforth St Margarets 3-1 with a confident display on a difficult pitch.
Both teams struggled with the conditions, so it was a case of who adapted best which is where Pool came out on top.
Harry Higgins opened the scoring from close range before Scott Firth placed his free-kick perfectly into the back of the net to give Pool a two-goal lead.
Horsforth thought they had pulled a goal back with a superb overhead volley from a free-kick, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Almost immediately, Pool's Josh Wagstaff produced an equally outstanding volley, this goal standing to give Pool a comfortable three-goal cushion at the interval.
To their credit, Horsforth never gave up, pulling a goal back in the second half, but Pool were always too strong holding on for the deserved victory.
Pool now face Otley Town at their Arthington Lane ground on February 15 in the semi-final. Kick-off is at 1.30pm
Pool are also in cup action this Saturday as they welcome runaway West Yorkshire Premier Division leaders Beeston St Anthony's to their ground in the West Yorkshire League Cup. Kick-off is at 2pm.
Pool Reserves were again without a match due to ground conditions.
