ANOTHER fantastic weekend for Ilkley Harriers was headlined by Tom Adams and Nathan Edmondson each notching two wins apiece.

Victory number one for Adams came in the Hurst Green Turkey Trot over in Lancashire and he followed that up 24 hours later on his return to Yorkshire in the Stoop Fell Race near Haworth.

Despite a covering of snow on the tops, 190 seniors and 70 juniors turned out for the Haworth event.

Adams crossed the line in a time of 35:20, closely followed by Robin Howie of Wharfedale Harriers in 35:34.

And with Jack Cummings fifth and Oli Murphy 11th, it meant that the Harriers also bagged the team prize.

And that achievement was matched by Ilkley's ladies - thanks to Lucy Williamson (third female home in 44:23 and 40th overall), Kate Archer (50th) and Rachel Carter (52nd),

Matching Adams' feat of a weekend double was Nathan Edmondson.

He powered to victory at the Woodhouse Moor Parkrun on Saturday in a time of 16:18 and then followed up in race two of the PECO Cross-Country series on Sunday.

He crossed the line in 26:24 at Middleton Park near Leeds, with 15 seconds to spare over runner-up Marcos Angel Valero Palacios of Roundhay Runners.

And that underlined his dominant position at the head of the cumulative standings as he'd also won the first race of the season.

Nearly 500 ran in the men's event and Steve Gott (31st) and Dan McKeown (43rd) both made the top 50.

In the women's race, Diane Kitchen took home the first F60 prize.

The aptly named Gathering Winter Fools relay around Keighley on Saturday saw three Harriers teams of eight take part in what is a fun festive occasion.

A strong men's A squad were attempting to defend the title they won in 2018 and Nick Helliwell and new member Nick Kealey led the team off in style on the nine-mile first leg.

They handed over to Steve Gott and Oli Murphy for the Kildwick to East Morton leg, then Paul Carman and Iain Gibbons, before Istvan Jacso and Dan McKeown took the team back to Keighley in the bronze medal position.

The B team - imaginatively titled 'Rebelves without a Claus' - also made the top ten.

Steve Murray and Mike Abrams-Cohen performed superbly on the first leg to tee up their ninth-placed finish, despite being hampered in the latter stages by some sodden elf trousers!

And the ladies team were to the fore as well, with good runs across the board.

There were some more eye-catching Parkrun results on Saturday too - Jack Wood taking second at Shrewsbury in a speedy time of 15:38 while Helen Thurston was first lady and third overall at a windy Fountains Abbey.
