BRADFORD City Women's start to the football season continues to be hampered by the poor autumn weather, with the first team now having four of their first 10 games postponed.

The FA Women's National League Plate tie against Leeds United will finally go ahead tomorrow at 3pm, almost a month later than originally scheduled, but the clubs have been forced to switch it to Leeds' Thorpe Arch 3G facility to avoid any further hold-ups.

It will be the team’s first game in four weeks, which in some ways the club will see as fortunate, as they continue the recruitment process for former manager Steve Winterburn’s replacement.

City received over 15 applications for the vacant managerial role, which have been whittled down to five, who will all have been interviewed by the end of next week.

The reserve team have also been hit badly by the weather, with a number of their games at Woodhouse Grove School being postponed.

They did return to action last Sunday and despite being depleted by illness, James Wright’s young team came away with a creditable 2-2 draw at Brighouse Town EDS thanks to a spectacular long-range Charlotte Sales effort, and a second half penalty from Meg Maxted.

The Bantams will be seeing a lot of rivals Leeds in the coming weeks.

The reserves take on United’s Under 23s tomorrow at 2pm, before the two first teams replay their league game that was abandoned last month following the horrific collision between City’s Chelsea Sandford and Leeds’ Molly Havard, which saw both players treated on the pitch by paramedics.

That clash will go ahead on November 14 at Eccleshill United's ground.

In the coming weeks, City will begin the recruitment process for a new chairperson, to allow Sally Thackray to take long-overdue retirement.

The club are also keen to bring in a new treasurer too. If you are interested in joining the club’s committee, or becoming a player or club sponsor, contact secretary Matthew Kermode on matthew@bcwfc.co.uk
