OMAR Ahmed won the Abby Dash 10k by more than five minutes as he crossed the line in a superb 28 minutes and 38 seconds.

In what was a chilly but sunny morning, Ahmed's closest rival was Rob Grant who crossed the line in 36.19, followed by Graham Lake (38.36), Jenson Brogden (38:57) and Sara Elliot (44.17).

The course that runs through the Headrow in Leeds along Kirkstall road to Kirkstall Abbey and back is renowned for participants setting new PBs, with five out of the top 15 achieving the feat.

One of the more notable performances was Jenson Brogden who has just moved up from the junior section and was running only his second 10k race.

Away from the crowds, Howard Jeffrey finished 36th out of 160 runners in the Whixley 10k with a time of 46.44 to place third in his age group.
