IT has been an eventful week for the Airecentre Pacers with nearly a dozen members completing the Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon, which started and ended in York on Sunday.

Six members completed their first ever marathon having supported each other through months of training.

First Pacer home in three hours and six minutes was Andrew Smith. Next was Isobel Hainswoth-Brear in 4.32 followed by Jennifer Sebright-Pickard (4.47), Sharon Elms (4.50), Adrian Williams (4.51), Carole Keighley (4.51) and Susan Hulme (5.10). They were followed by mother and daughter Amanda and Charlotte Connolly, finishing in 5.14. They were followed by Marianne Smith (5.26) and Sally Russ (5.42).

The same event had a 10-mile race, which also passed though York. First Pacer home was Chris Hill in 1.19.46, followed by Helen Alcock (1.28.04), Jemma Hampshaw (1.38.23), Katie Hill (1.39.08), Sue Milnes (1.40.39), Linda Braham (1.40.41) and Ewan Pearson (2.04.41). On the same day, Debbie Bland completed the Holmfirth 10K in 50.45, coming first in the FV65 age category. Andrew Humphries completed the Epworth Half-Marathon in Lincolnshire in 1.18 along with Kate MacFarlane in 1.39.

The previous weekend, a group of Pacers travelled to Kielder Water in Northumberland to take part in a weekend of running and cycling events. Nick Leathley completed ‘Britain’s most beautiful marathon’ in 4 hours 40. In the 10K event, first to complete the course was Carole Keighley in 57.43, followed by Angela Hopps (1.05.30), Suzanne McKay (1.12.57), Liz Cook (1.12.57) and Dave Cook (1.25.16). Taking part in the Run-Bike-Run event was Steve Tindall, Catherine Tindall and Megan Dennison.

Bland also finished the Palma Half Marathon in Majorca in 2.01.00, and was second in her age category.
