OLD Otliensians travelled to play against old friends Baildon and it was the Bradford side who came out on top in the battle of the Yorkshire Three high-flyers, winning 28-12 after a late flourish.

The visitors took advantage of the slope in the first half and Connor Bateman scored two penalties in the first 10 minutes, including a fantastic effort from just inside his own half.

After centre Olly Eaves made a telling break from quick ball, Ensians' winger Connor Paley was tackled just short of the line.

However Baildon then turned the game around, a penalty goal and a 24th minute converted try giving them a 10-6 lead.

Both teams tried to open the ball out but there were several errors and play became scrappy. The lineouts were even with Joe Ridgway prominent for the visitors.

Eventually, 'Ensians achieved a number of phases, and another penalty for Bateman reduced the deficit to one.

Baildon came close when their speedy winger was tackled close to the line, but they only held a 10-9 lead at half-time.

On 57 minutes, 'Ensians forced their way into the Baildon 22 and earned a penalty, with Will Cooper's kick making it 12-10.

Baildon regained the lead through a penalty, before taking the game by the scruff of the neck in the final 10 minutes.

They scored a converted try, a penalty and a further unconverted try for a well-deserved win, putting them into third and dropping 'Ensians to fourth.
