SEVERAL youngsters from the Yeadon and Guiseley area have become world champions after competing at the World Aikido Championships in the United States.

The youngsters, who train at Leeds-based Ichiban Leeds, competed for Team GB at the Worldwide Sport Aikido Federation (WSAF) event in San Diego and brought home a huge haul of medals competing in a range of disciplines.

Maxwell Wynn led the medal haul with five gold and one bronze in the under-16s, Emma Keyworth took home four gold and one silver in the same age group, while Georgia Robson won four gold and a silver in the under-13s.

The age groups results are as follows - Under-19s: Danny Goodall, three gold; Lauren Sheard, two gold; James Staton, Vlada Petrahhina, one gold and four silver; James Staton, one gold and three silver. Under-16s: Maxwell Wynn, five gold and one bronze; Emma Keyworth, four gold and one silver; Jack Robinson, one gold, one silver and one bronze; Emma Hewitt, two silver and three bronze; Bradley Godsman, two silver and two bronze; Danny Goodall, one silver and one bronze; James Babington, one silver. Under-13s: Georgia Robson, four gold and one silver; Magenta Bareham, three gold and two silver; Georgia Wynn, two gold, one silver and one bronze; James Babington, one gold and two silver; Jazmin Berzviczy, two silver and two bronze; and Alea Baxter, one silver and two bronze. Under-10s: Charlie Robson, two gold and two silver; Austin Wynn, two gold, one silver and one bronze; Jazmin Berzviczy, one gold and one silver.

The junior coaches are Garret Baxter and Bob Jones, who is a 7th Dan.
