BRADFORD (Park Avenue) started their run of home games in the North East Regional Women’s League Southern Division with an entertaining 5-5 draw against York RI.
York took the lead, but were pegged back by a good Millie West strike to make it 1-1 at half-time. In the second half, York again took the lead, but there was a quick response from Nat Bell.
Then York went 4-2 ahead before letting Bell complete her hat-trick to again level the scores. With three minutes remaining, York thought they’d nicked it but Kirsty Russell scrambled a last-gasp equaliser.
This week, Avenue are at their new home, Field AFC, for Wakefield Trinity’s visit.
In the West Riding Second Division, Thackley Reserves won 9-1 at Durkar in a fine all-round effort. On target were Jess Maurice, a brace from Hope Nicol, one from new signing Nicky Davies and five from Megan Howell.
But there was disappoint-ment for Thackley’s firsts, as they lost 4-1 to Yorkshire Amateur in a Premier Division game. Lois Cooper netted Thackley’s goal, with Katie Bailey making some good saves on her debut.
Silsden lost 4-0 at Brighouse Athletic, with the hosts dominating the second half to take the points.
In the First Division, Tyersal’s Lauren Burnett and Jamie Lukacs netted but they lost 4-2 to Skipton, who had Holly Morgan, Jess Ogden, Corina Riley and Harriet Brewer on target.
Phoenix lost 4-3 to Farsley Junior Reserves despite an Ikra Ali hat-trick, and Ilkley also lost 4-3, to Huddersfield Amateur.
Finally, Queensbury Celtic made their debut in the Yorkshire U18 League, losing 6-3 to a good Scarborough side in an end-to-end game.
