ADEL slipped to a heartbreaking one-wicket home defeat against Collingham & Linton in Division One of the Aire-Wharfe League on Saturday, with the result condemning to relegation by a single point.

The hosts batted first and made an inadequate 108 all out. Dasun Opanayaka top-scored with 36, while Toby Jacklin's 4-21 did the damage for the visitors.

Collingham & Linton, in relegation danger themselves, were cruising at 73-3, but after wicket-keeper Daniel Kilby was dismissed for 42, they collapsed to 105-9.

But Fahad Rafiq struck a boundary off the first ball of the 34th over to see his side to victory, and safety.

That result meant North Leeds needed three points to survive, and that is exactly what they got at Rawdon, whose seven-wicket win guaranteed them another season in Division One too.

North Leeds were dismissed for only 130, before George Myers bludgeoned 46 not out to see the hosts to an easy win.

Bilton also narrowly escaped relegation, with the six points accrued in their seven-run defeat at Addingham proving vital.

They reduced the hosts to 66-7 but Ted Haggas blasted a late 30 to push them up to 133. Tuseif Arshad and Mustahsan Ali Shah took four wickets each in the innings, giving their batsman a real chance of victory.

And when Cameron Martin and Lewis Mallinson added 66 for the fifth wicket, Bilton seemed to be cruising. But with opening bowlers Richard Atkins and Ricky Palacio taking four wickets apiece, the innings subsided to 126 all out.

Pool finished bottom, but they might have conjured up a great escape if they had kept their foot on Burley-in-Wharfedale's throat.

They reduced their opponents to 51-7, mainly thanks to David Amos' 4-22, but Kai Chew's 42no and Redmond Bolton's 43 allowed hosts Burley to post 143-9.

Pool captain Charlie Bell made 39 as his side reached 91-3 but Joe Hall ran through the middle and lower order, taking 6-21 to skittle the visitors for only 127.

Meanwhile, runaway champions Otley showed their class by hammering second-placed Follifoot. James Davies' 5-26 reduced Follifoot to 88 all out, before opener Jamie Pickering struck 53no to see his side to a nine-wicket win.

Finally, there was a mid-table thriller at Ilkley. The hosts were dismissed for only 108 by visitors Horsforth, who then reached 107-7, thanks to Michael Lambert's 49.

But Robert Spivey took the final three wickets without a further run being scored, as Ilkley secured a stunning one-run win.

In Division Two, Guiseley were triumphant in the winner takes all clash at the bottom with Colton Institute. They posted 205-9 thanks to an unbeaten 58 from Joe Fisher, before Chris Wain's 3-15 was instrumental in dismissing Colton for just 125.

The result saw Guiseley leapfrog their opponents, ensuring their survival and Colton's relegation.

Ben Rhydding needed a miracle to survive but didn't get it in a one-wicket defeat at Bardsey. Forest Hamilton hit 41 and took 3-25 in a fine individual performance, but it wasn't enough as his side finished bottom.

Staying down near the bottom and lowly New Rover thrashed fellow strugglers Tong Park Esholt by 78 runs. A stunning 136no from opener Michael Richmond saw Rover post a huge 278-3, before Rob Thomas' 5-58 helped skittle Esholt for exactly 200.

Meanwhile, league winners Saltaire romped to an easy eight-wicket win over Kirkstall Educational, after routing their opponents for 90.

Already promoted alongside Saltaire, Olicanian slid to a 44-run home defeat against Beckwithshaw. The visitors struck 187-9, thanks to captain Peter Hotchkiss' 81, before dismissing their hosts for 143.

Third-placed Horsforth Hall Park finished with a flourish. Sam Wilkinson put in a stunning individual performance, hitting 72 and taking 5-37 in his side's 114-run win over Steeton.

Down in Division Three, an extraordinary game saw rock-bottom Harden dismissed for 81 by Skipton, due to James Emmott's 5-26.

But Daniel Viles then delivered a bowling performance for the ages, taking 7-9 to dismantle Skipton for just 27 all out. Skipton still survived by the skin of their teeth though, after second-bottom Menston were beaten by 65 runs at Bolton Villas.

Elsewhere, promoted duo Green Lane and Calverley St Wilfrids won by five and four wickets respectively, the former at Leeds Modernians and the latter at Thackley.

Finally, high-flying Alwoodley suffered a surprise nine-wicket thrashing at the hands of North Leeds' seconds, after being routed for only 70, while Tong Park's seconds cruised to a 73-run victory over St Chads Broomfield.
