POOL put in an excellent performance in all departments to beat East End Park 3-0 on Saturday.

The sides were evenly matched for the first 15 minutes, but then Pool took the game by the scruff of the neck creating several chances. Unfortunately, they failed to capitalise, missing several sitters.

Their midfield battled for every ball, defended well, but as time went on it was beginning to look like the elusive goal was not going to come.

Then in five frantic minutes they put the match to bed, with substitutes Ryan Firth and Harry Higgins both scoring from close range, the latter quick to pounce on a goal-line clearance.

Scott Firth also fired a screaming free-kick from 30 yards into the top corner.

Pool's midweek trip to Campion failed to bear fruit as they went down to a 5-1 defeat

Pool went behind early, but young Harry Norris scored his first league goal to level the scores.

The scores remained this way until, with 30 minutes remaining, Matty Bilney received a red card for retaliating to a rough challenge.

Pool then went behind, had to chase the match and gaps at the back allowed Campion to take advantage and they ran out easy winners.

* Pool Reserves lost 3-1 at Old Centralians Reserves.

Pool matched their hosts for half an hour before two quick goals had them struggling.

Two of the club's youngsters came on in the second half, changing the game. Sam Parsons gave much-needed speed at the back, and Danny Froud was similar in attack. Froud won a penalty, which he converted.
