BRADFORD (Park Avenue) claimed their first point of the season after coming from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at Gateshead.

It has been the toughest of starts for Bradford in the National League North but the draw lifted them off the bottom after three straight defeats.

New signing Nelson Digbeu came close to giving Avenue an early lead with a header but it was the hosts who led at the break.

Greg Olley's low cross was met at the far post by JJ O'Donnell, who slotted home his second goal of the season past a static away defence.

But there was finally some relief for Park Avenue as they found the back of the net after more than 320 minutes of football.

And the goal from Lewis Knight was worth waiting for as the attacker found the top right corner with a great strike after 58 minutes.

Alex Hurst then let fly with a fantastic effort which was blocked as Bradford grew in confidence.

Avenue's point was ensured thanks to some good late defending, with Mitch Lund making a goal-line clearance and Jack Bennett saving with the last touch of the game.

Meanwhile, Guiseley are second in the table after returning to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at home to Spennymoor Town.

Guiseley took the lead through Aaron Martin just after the half-hour mark as the former Brighouse striker converted following a corner from the right.

Spennymoor were level three minutes later from a goalmouth scramble with the equaliser being credited as an own goal by on-loan Bantams keeper George Sykes-Kenworthy.

But Martin claimed his sixth goal of the season with a poacher's strike just after the break.

And Lee Shaw added to the lead 14 minutes from time.
