BRADFORD Premier League Championship Two leaders Yeadon had a comfortable seven-wicket win over a Jer Lane side that has faded in recent weeks after a promising start to the campaign.

Sarmad Hameed made an unbeaten 56 and was supported by opener Robert Smith (40) as Yeadon eased home after bowling out their rivals for 153.

Only Amjid Khan (46) made an impression as young spinner James Massheder took 3-26.

It was a bumper day for batsman in Championship Two with five players scoring centuries.

There were 746 runs in the game between Liversedge and Bowling Old Lane with three batsmen making tons.

Pride of place went to Sohail Hussain with the day’s highest individual score of 150 in Liversedge’s daunting total of 378-3. Hussain peppered the boundary with 11 sixes and 12 fours and was joined in a third-wicket stand of 146 by Graham Winn, who stroked his way to 115. Winn hit four sixes and 12 fours before Asad Mahmood added to the suffering of the Old Lane bowlers with an unbeaten 75 from just 36 balls.

It was to Old Lane’s credit that they didn’t wilt under the challenge of responding to such a big total and they gave the home side a real scare before finishing just 10 runs behind their rivals on 368-5.

The experienced Ahsan Butt led the way with 114 not out, a knock which included a six and 14 fours, and was well supported by skipper Farakh Hussain (76), Ayyaz Akram (62) Arsalan Ijaz (50) and Amjid Hussain (37), but their efforts weren’t quite enough.

During the Old Lane innings Butt shared in a third-wicket stand of 104 with Akram before adding 123 with Hussain for the fourth wicket.

Jonathan Crossland of Buttershaw St Paul’s made his second successive century to power Buttershaw St Paul’s to a nine-wicket win over Hopton Mills.

Crossland hit five sixes and 15 fours while making 104 not and was joined in an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 150 by opener Kevin McDermott (58) as St Paul’s eased past the Hopton Mills total of 191.

Michael Carroll (49), Mark Ashton (45) and Umar Abbas (39) were the main contributors for Mills while Amer Ayoub took 3-67 for St Paul’s.

The fifth player to reach three figures was Birstall’s Rishy Limbechaya. He smashed six sixes and 11 fours while making 100 as Birstall chased down an Adwalton score of 249 to win by four wickets.

South African James Van der Merwe produced an impressive spell of 6-32 which helped East Ardsley to dismiss Spen Victoria for 136 on their way to a three-wicket win. Opener Sam Gatenby (58) continued his good form for Spen but lacked support.

* In Priestley Shield action on Sunday, Hanging Heaton II cruised into the last 16 with a 126-run win over Yeadon II.

Nick Bresnan (72) and Will Rich (55) helped Hanging Heaton to 227-9 despite the efforts of Ryan Mooney (4-37).

Bresnan followed up with 3-35 as Yeadon were all out for 101.
