AFTER counting up the votes in Guiseley AFC's 2018/19 Goal of the Season poll, the club has revealed that Will Hatfield’s strike against Cambridge is the winner.
The midfielder’s stunning goal set Guiseley on its way in the historic 4-3 Emirates FA Cup first round win against the League Two side and got over 50 per cent of the votes in the poll.
Shortly after scoring that goal Hatfield said: “It is up there with one of my best. I have had a few good ones over the years when I was younger and growing up. But to do it in a match like this in the FA Cup and strike a ball like that… I was due one, really, and trusted my ability.”
“I have scored a few in training like that and for one to go in during a match, I am delighted.”
Hatfield also took second place with his free-kick at Spennymoor Town and Andy Halls’ long-range shot at Altrincham was the third favourite goal of the season.
