COLD, wet and mud is supposed to be the standard affair for cross country, but not at this year’s National Cross Country Championships as a warm and sunny day greeted the elite runners at Harewood House.

Results for Otley were: Under-13 girls - Charlotte Chambers, 321nd in 13:48 and Kitty Quin, 400th in 15:17; under-13 boys - George Chambers, 296th in 12:44; under-15 boys - Jenson Brogden, 219th in 16:05 and Zachary Quin, 338th in 19:44; senior women - Victoria Stainburn, 187th in 35:03, Laura McCabe, 304th in 37:05, Victoria Binks, 595th in 41:46, Caron Ralph 780th in 45:35, and Sharon Kenyon, 830th in 46:43; senior men - Tom Lynch, 869th in 48:24, Christopher Chambers, 1420th in 53:59, Howard Jeffrey, 1702nd in 58:24, Andrew Webster, 1772nd in 59:50, David Fox, 1968th in 1:11:13, and Antonio Cardinale, 2005th in 1:34:58.

The following day was the Snake Lane 10 in Pocklington, where Andy Webster and Billy Rayner finished 381st in 1.20.06 and 713th in 1.32.59.
