AIRIENTEERS had a number of winners as they hosted the Northern Night Championships on Ilkley Moor last weekend.
Over a hundred competitors enjoyed a beautiful evening and a challenging event.
The longest courses went through Panorama and Heber's Ghyll Wood before tackling the moor.
The best placed Aire runners were Ali Mcleod and Andrew Hobson, who came first and third on the elite course, Chloe Haines of Ilkley, who won the women’s race, David Alcock of Guiseley, who won the blue course, and Peter Haines of Ilkley, who was second on the veterans’ course.
The next local event is this Sunday when Airienteers will celebrate 50 years of orienteering in Wharfedale with a ‘through the ages’ race on maps from different decades.
The race is on Ilkley Moor, with registration opposite Darwin Gardens Millennium Green.
There are modern courses for all ages and abilities as well as the historic event.
