POOL were beaten 4-0 by Huddersfield YM in the third round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The game got off to the worst possible start for Pool when stand-in keeper Dan Swales produced a fantastic save only for the ball to rebound and drop to a Huddersfield striker who took his chance to open the scoring.
The young keeper could have reacted badly to this, but instead went on to give an accomplished performance which included a number of point-blank saves.
A defensive error gifted a second goal to Huddersfield, and when a third came from an off-side position, it looked like Pool had accepted defeat.
A spirited second half performance by Pool's players saw them hit both the post and crossbar and force an excellent save from the Huddersfield keeper.
However, Huddersfield broke through to add a fourth against the run of play.
