BURLEY Buccaneers Under-7s hosted Idle Tigers this weekend and recorded an incredible 8-2 win, despite falling behind in the first period.
Idle took the early initiative, and were duly rewarded with the opening goal. Down 1-0 at the start of the second quarter, the Buccaneers soon clicked into gear.
They equalised with a fine strike from Conor Dunphy, then went ahead when Jackson Sadler-Lewis’ shot found the corner of the net.
Cameron Mackie added a third with a superb solo effort. With the team now in the ascendancy, and brimming with confidence, Mackie netted five goals in total- his third the result of a perfectly timed through ball from Lucas Goldie.
Alfie Sutton provided an inch perfect cross for Max Rowlands to slot home, before Idle added a second goal of their own.
George Prestwich and Ben Barry shared goalkeeping responsibilities, each making some excellent saves, to help ensure the Buccaneers came away as 8-2 victors.
