OTLEY AC had a number of runners take part in the West Yorkshire Cross Country league race at Nunroyd Park on Sunday. A mild day and a very dry course lead to some fast racing.

Bronwen Owen was a clear winner senior women's race, in 18:59. Vicky Stainburn had an excellent 15th place finish in 21:43, followed by Sara Elliott in 50th with 23:49, Ruth Poole in 90th with 26:53 and Caron Ralph 101st in 27:44. The team of four also finished 11th.

The senior men's race was a close affair up front, four seconds covering the first three finishers, With Pudsey and Bramley's Joe Baxter prevailing in 30:15.

Joe Torr stormed to a 35th place in 33:38 and Tom Lynch was 73rd in 36:10. Lee Gumbrell also finished in 145th in 43:21, despite running the Abbey Dash in the morning and the Lister Park Parkrun the day before.

Junior race results: Under-11s boys: Ned Gallagher-Thompson and David Akeroyd finished 34th (6:32) and 48th (6:54), respectively; Under-11 girls: Charlotte Chambers 20th (6:40), Annie Chambers 54th (7:33) and Ellie Hinton 56th (7:35) and tenth team; Under-13 boys: George Chambers 28th (14:29), Under-13 girls: Kitty Quin 49th (13:46); and Under-15 boys: Zachary Quin 33rd (19:15).
