POOL went down to a heavy 7-0 defeat at Hall Green on Saturday.

Having beaten the West Yorkshire League Division One leaders in all but the final scoreline earlier in the season (a 95th minute penalty denied Pool three points), they travelled for the return full of confidence.

However two early goals knocked the stuffing out of them and set the tone of the match.

This was not to be Pool's day, as Hall Green netted another five times when Pool left space at the back as they pushed forward to get back into the match.

Pool Reserves showed great determination to fight back from a terrible start to a match where they lost 2-1 to Rothwell Reserves at home.

They were 2-0 down within 15 minutes and under the cosh. A heavy defeat looked possible, but they got stuck in, weathered the storm and then matched Rothwell in all departments, playing some good football with only the final touch missing.

Just before the interval the ever reliable Dave Potts pulled a goal back to set up an interesting second half.

There were chances at both ends, and Pool had a golden opportunity in the dying seconds to get the point they deserved.

But this time Potts was thwarted by the advancing Rothwell keeper, who forced him to drag his shot wide.
