FOUR Skyrac runners competed in the Yorkshireman Marathon and ladies pair Rebecca César de Sá and Kate Corcoran excelled as they became the first female pair to complete the course in four hours, 12 minutes and 21 seconds.

Nuno César de Sá and Matthew Wilkinson also ran well together for Skyrac and they finished sixth in the male pair category in 4:18:29.

The event, held in Haworth last weekend, was organised by Keighley and Craven Athletic Club. Nearly 200 athletes took part in the off road marathon, which was predominantly run over moorland.

Conditions were tough with heavy rain and wind for most of the race. The foursome ran together for much of the way, relying on each other for navigation, as the route was only partially flagged.

However, it was the ladies who eventually pulled away, and their category success was duly rewarded with an impressive-looking trophy.
