YORKSHIRE Carnegie director of rugby Chris Stirling will get the chance to have a look at a number of possible new options for his squad in his team’s first pre-season game at Otley tomorrow (3pm), including former Wharfedale lock Kieran Frost.

The game at Cross Green will see a number of the club’s promising academy players joined by Championship squad members and three trialists, as well as players from the club’s partnership with Leeds Beckett University and Bishop Burton College.

Canadian international Dan Moor will get a chance to impress on the wing.

The Toronto-born flyer played for Oxford University last season, featuring in the Varsity game at Twickenham, and has arrived at Yorkshire Carnegie on trial, with countryman Jake Ilnicki already at the club.

Centre Jack Higginson will try and show what he can do in the 15-man code, having previously played league for Wigan Warriors, while hooker Charlie Gibbings has joined on trial from Exmouth.

Leeds Beckett student John Okafor will start in the second row, having moved to Yorkshire for his degree from Harlequins.

Likewise, front-rower Harry Butler on the bench is a Leeds Beckett student, while Paul Hamber, Lee Little, Will Hall and Jerry Turugabeci have all impressed at Bishop Burton.

New signings Frost, Andy Foster, Rowan Jenkins and Ewan McQuillin will get an early run-out for their new side too.
