SCOTT Harrington battled all the way for Otley AC at the third Harrogate League Race of the season in Thirsk, but he was pipped to victory by local rival Rob Little of Ilkley Harriers.

It was another warm evening at the five-mile course but Harrington produced a storming race to cross the line in 26 minutes and 42 seconds. Little secured the win though with his time of 26.34.

Tom Midgley and Graham Lake made up the rest of the elite team for Otley and they both finished inside 31 minutes, coming 19th and 28th respectively.

Sara Elliott was the first Otley lady in 132nd, and she was followed home by Carol Armitstead and Laura Hind.

Pudsey & Bramley smashed the course record to win at the Danefield Relays last week, but the Otley teams that entered could be happy with their efforts.

Otley Men came 12th overall, with their team containing Lake, Lee Gumbrell and Joe Torr. The latter's time of 20.13 contributed to a relay run of one hour, four minutes and 10 seconds.

The inventively-named Otley's Worst Pace Scenario was an all-female trio, and they came 26th. Victoria Stainburn's pacy final leg of 22.25 ensuring an overall time of 1.11.04.

Otley Rejects and All Mixed Up came 40th and 50th respectively, recording times of 1.16.36 and 1.20.50, while the Over-40s group of Dave Tait, Cathy Dawson and Matt Podd were not far behind in 1.22.59.
