ON WHAT was supposed to be a day for batsman, Tom Chippendale recorded figures that would have been outstanding even on a 'sticky dog'.

The Hanging Heaton pacemen took six wickets in eight balls, including four in four (one off the last ball of one over and a hat-trick to start his next), on the way to 8-17 as Lightcliffe were skittled for 32 inside 10 overs at Bennett Lane in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division.

He was not only on course to break John Carruthers' club record of 9-26 against Bowling Old Lane but also record a rare 10-for.

Chippendale, who had returned 6-51 the previous week, took the first eight wickets but was stymied when Josh Holling had Chris Greenwood caught to become the ninth victim, and his fellow opening bowler was denied the chance of a ninth wicket when Lightcliffe Daanyaal Ahmed could not bat due to injury.

Earlier the Batley club had made 357-6, making it a stunning 325-run victory, with opener Gary Fellows' 80 off 96 balls and Joe Fraser's 63 off 79 balls being put in the shade by Ben Kohler-Cadmore (69 off 45 balls, including six fours and four sixes), Callum Geldart (51 off 39 balls), but particularly David Stiff (62 not out off just 26 balls, including five fours and four sixes).

Spare a thought though for Alex Stead, who batted through the Lightcliffe innings for 14 not out.

Hanging Heaton (148 points) remain third, with New Farnley (167) and Pudsey St Lawrence (154) ahead of them.

Hosts New Farnley were 38-5 against Bradford & Bingley, but recovered to 231-8 as the Wagon Laners paid a heavy price for dropping six catches.

Steve Bullen (88) and Joe Bedford (63no) added 167 for the sixth wicket as Ed Brown took 3-23 and Abdi-Hasan Rehman Ahmed 3-31.

Bradford & Bingley were then dismissed for 158 as spinner Dave McCallum took 6-43, with only Brown (32no) breaking 30, although neither Jack Edgar nor George Hanson could bat due to injury.

Pudsey St Lawrence lost by 22 runs at home to Methley, who were indebted to Dan Shuffe (53) and Grant Soames (44), with the experienced duo putting on 67 for the sixth wicket in their 231-8 as Richie Lamb bagged 3-69 and Steve Watts 3-58.

Adam Waite was the top-scorer with 35 for Saints as Soames returned 3-31 and Waqas Ahmed 3-54.

Former Yorkshire wicket-keeper Dan Hodgson made 100 off 107 balls, including 11 fours and a six, as Farsley racked up 268-8 against Cleckheaton, with Pat Kruger adding a rapid 68 off 69 deliveries, including seven fours and two sixes, after opener James Wainman had made 47.

Joshua Thurwell took 6-55 but he was a lone hand with the ball before Cleck were castled for 132 as Kruger completed a fine match by bagging 4-18.

Woodlands and Townville made totals that were more in keeping with the dry conditions, with visitors Woodlands scoring 272-5, chiefly thanks to partnerships of 69 between Tim Jackson (72) and Greg Finn, 100 between Jackson and Ishfaq Ahmed (63) and 73 unbroken by Cieran Garner (34no) and Muhammad Bilal (45no).

Ritchie Bresnan took 4-58 for the home side, who replied manfully with 250, opener Kris Ward and No 9 Alex Page sharing the batting honours with 44 as spinners Kez Ahmed (5-56) and Chris Brice (3-78) weighed in.

Scholes drew level with Bradford & Bingley in next to bottom on 81 points after a four-wicket win at cellar dwellers East Bierley.

The South View Road men made 247-9, with Rizwan Ali (76 off 62 balls, containing seven fours and four sixes) in a hurry while Shabir Rashid made a more sedate 60 as they added 124 for the sixth wicket.

Yasir Ali (3-63), Andy Robinson (3-76) and James Stansfield (3-65) shared the wickets before the visitors replied with 250-6 off just 40.1 overs, with Yasir Ali unbeaten on 74 and Shoukat Ali having been out for 52.
