AFTER two weeks off due to bad weather, the season finally started in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League.

In Group A, last year’s champions Interlink got off to a winning start, beating Yorkshire Friends by 102 runs after deciding to bat.

Interlink made 198-9 off their 40 overs, with Irfan Jamadar scoring 52 and skipper Ebrahim Bismillah being unbeaten on 52.

In reply, Yorkshire Friends were all out for 96 in 29 overs, with Mohammed Memi taking four wickets.

Bradford Moor A, runners-up in 2017, managed a winning draw against Cambing A.

Moor totalled 225-8, with Kabeer Hussain (93no) being supported by Muhammad Imran (42).

In reply, Cambing scored 175-9, with Muhammad Ubaid making 41 and Zaffar Iqbal taking three wickets.

Yorkshire LPS A beat Girlington A by 16 runs in a low-scoring encounter.

LPS, who were all out for 120, were massively indebted to Ghazanfar Ali (68), with Jamil Ahmed, Farhad Raja and Zahid Khalid each taking three wickets.

Girlington were then all out for 104, with Bhavin D Patel and Ali each taking three wickets.

Bradford Gymkhana A defeated Great Horton Church A by seven wickets, with the latter being dismissed for 96 in 31.5 overs after winning the toss, with Shezad Khalid taking 4-19.

Gymkhana looked to be struggling at 17-3 before Babar Hafeez (50no) and Khalid (30no) put on an unbroken partnership of 80 for the fourth wicket to see them home.

Omars beat Hallfield A by five wickets after a runfest at Park Avenue.

Hallfield were all out for 219, with Shujjah Khan scoring 67 and Imran Masood 58 as Chetan Patel took 5-22 and Syed Imran Abbas 4-51.

Omars then made 221-5, with Qamar Saddique unbeaten on 85 and Shmile Khan scoring 42, with Faraz Mirza taking 4-52.

Salem Athletic A defeated Apperley Bridge by 72 runs after totalling 195, with Mohammad Hamdaan scoring 73 and Tariq Rasheed taking 7-38.

Bridge were then all out for 123, with Mohammed Faizaan and Mohammed Siraj taking three wickets each.

In Group BAllerton A beat Bowling Bowling Baptist A by seven wickets after dismissing them for 77, replying with 78-3 (Abid Hussain 52no).

It was a similar story for Greenfield A against Great Horton Church B, who were dismissed for 78 off 23.5 overs, Idrees Mughal taking 4-19 and Faraz Zafar 3-18. Greenfield then scored 84-5 off 21.3 overs.

Another side to win batting second were Girlington B, who defeated Hallfield B by seven wickets.

Hallfield scored 131-9, with Sohail Mohammed scoring 46 and Faraz Ali unbeaten on 41 as Adeil Mir took 4-15.

Girlington then scored 135-3 off 29 overs, with Sana Ullah unbeaten on 39, supported by Ahsan Ali (38).

Denholme Clough got a winning draw against Salem Athletic B.

Clough elected to bat and made 147 all out in 36.2 overs (Mohammad Asif 40, Mehr Sultan 4-38). Salem B then held out at 144-9 off 43 overs, with Mohammed Asif taking three wickets.

More convincing were Bradford Moor B, who beat TABS by 73 runs after scoring 164 off 37 overs (Abid Ali 47).

TABS replied with 90 off 33.1 overs, with Istiraj Khan bowling five maiden overs and taking three wickets.

Cambing B beat Bradford Gymkhana B by three runs after scoring 135 and restricting their opponents to 132.

In Group C, Greenfield B scored 159 of 38.2 overs to beat West Bowling by 69 runs.

Ajmal Shazad scored 46 and Mazhar Iqbal 42 for Greenfield B, Anjum Munir, Aaqib Hussain and Mohammed Rafiq each taking three wickets.

West Bowling were castled for 90 in 35.3 overs, with Murtaza bagging three wickets.

Yorkshire LPS B defeated Great Horton Meths by six wickets after dismissing them for 73 (Nishith Patel 4-15) and then making 79-4 (Nikhil Lal 39).

Even more convincing were Bradford Indians with a 157-run victory over Central YMCA.

Indians scored 198-9, with Gaurav Kumar dominant with 82, which included two sixes and eight fours.

Alex Stephenson took three wickets for YMCA, who were then all out for 41 in 22.2 overs. with Harpartap Singh Dhillon taking 5-10.

Finally, Bowling Baptist B beat Allerton B by 59 runs after winning the toss and scoring 184-6 (Sajid Malik 78) before dismissing their opponents for 125.

* Girlington have qualified to host Allerton in the second round of the Sir James Roberts Cup after defeating Denholme Clough by five wickets in the only first-round tie.  

Clough were all out for 128, Girlington A replying with 133-5, with Manzar Naqvi scoring an unbeaten 43 and Mohammed Asif taking three wickets for Clough.

In order to play in the next round, all players should have played two league games prior to the cup game.
