BRAMHOPE’S Shayan Siraj picked up a couple of victories as he represented England at the Italian Youth Open in Lignano.
The 14-year-old Leeds Grammar School pupil won his two group matches against opponents from Croatia and Slovakia to reach the knockout stages but went out in the last 64 at the hands of Poland’s Maciej Kubik.
In the doubles, Siraj and partner Kwan To Yiu of Hong Kong won their first-round match to reach the last 32, but were then beaten 3-2 in a close match by 14th seeds David Molnar & Norbert Terek of Hungary (11-9, 7-11, 12-14, 11-9, 11-8).
