Ten-year-old Addingham boy Edward Earle has clinched his second British championship title in the Luscombe Suzuki British Junior trials champion- ship.

Edward won four of the first five rounds of the championship, sealing the title once again before the last round.

The six rounds of the championship have taken place at venues as far a field as Gloucester and Glasgow.

Having won his own class title before the last round, he was given special permission by the sports governing body ( the ACU) to ride in a higher class against older youths on larger bikes in the final round this weekend in Scotland, where he finished sixth place in a field of 16 riders.

Edward goes to school at Beamsley and is sponsored by Colin Appleyard motorcycles of Keighley.

He would like to say a big thank you to Kevin Feeney of Appleyards and Dan Clark who was his minder at the last round.

Edward hopes to ride in Europe in the coming years and will be pushing hard once again in next season’s British championship.

Richmond winner Emma Bristow dominated the final ACU Ladies and Girls Championship where Healaugh’s Katy Sunter took second place in the adult class.

Silsden’s Gabby Whitham won Class B beating new class champion Beth Waite. Only seventeen competed in the trial – 20 less that rode at Marske a week earlier.

The final event in the series takes place at Bracken Rocks on October 13.

Trawden lift engineer Ross Crosby won the Huddersfield Falcon club’s Westerby Trial at Holmfirth on Sunday but the Yeadon–Guiseley Motor Club trio of Martin Cross-waite, Dan Clark and Sam Yeadon grabbed the Centre Team Trophy from the Bradford and Falcon clubs.

There was shock news for all trials sidecar fans when the Sheffield & Hallamshire Motor Club cancelled this Sunday’s final round of the British Sidecar Trials Championship due to a lack of entries.

Series sponsor Robin Luscombe of Luscombe Suzuki Leeds was planning to compete in what would have been a Team Luscombe swansong.
