Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick has explained why he has put the Boshell brothers on the transfer list.

The Lions boss said: “I had a difference of opinion with Danny.

“We were not singing off the same hymn sheet and we felt it would put his younger brother Nicky in a difficult position, so we decided to put them both on the transfer list.

“These things happen in football but it is not about one or two players, it is about a 20-man squad.

“Yes, it puts us two players down but we have recently signed Matt Wilson, Jake Lawlor and Phil Marsh.”

Neither of the Boshells have figured in Guiseley’s last three matches, with Danny playing the full match against Oxford City on January 12 and Nicky replaced James Walshaw for the last four minutes.

Bradford-born Danny began his career with Oldham Athletic, spending six years at Boundary Park, during which time he made 70 appearances, scoring twice.

Having played on loan at Bury which at Oldham, the elder Boshell then joined Stockport County, scoring once in 33 appearances before being released at the end of the 2005-06 season.

The 31-year-old midfielder has since played for Grimsby Town and Chesterfield before ending up at Nethermoor.

He was joined there last summer by set-piece ace Nicky, 26, who has played for Huddersfield Town, Brighouse Town and Bradford Park Avenue.

The 2-2 draw at Gloucester City on Tuesday night brought an end to Guiseley’s winning run, but Kittrick was not worried by any lack of morale in the wake of the disappearance of the Boshells.

He said: “Footballers do what they have to do, and we showed tremendous spirit to draw having been with ten men for so long.”
