BURLEY Scouts and Guides Group would like to say a massive thank you for all the support they have received over the last five years as they complete a £500,000 fundraising campaign which has enabled a new headquarters to be built in Peel Place.
Thanks to the generosity of villagers last year’s Santa sleigh raised the final £1,985 for the project. The new premises hosted the first sleepover last weekend. Helen Haskins, Rainbow leader said: “It was fantastic having warm water to wash in and a warm centrally heated venue, so much nicer than the old hut. Lyndsey appreciated the cookers and decent kitchen enabling the Rainbows and Brownies to cook together. We still have some money to raise to finish off the landscaping, but with the present water logged soil there is no rush especially with the generous loan from Burley Community Trust.”
