A MEMORIAL bench has been unveiled in honour of two stalwarts of the Royal British Legion who died last year.
The commemorative bench in Yeadon is in memory of Ernest Carr, who died in May at the age of 104 and George Robertson, who died in November aged 93.
The “lest we forget” bench has a plaque in memory of the two men. It is sited near the Yeadon war memorial stone which was unveiled last year.
The families of Mr Carr and Mr Robertson donated the retiring collections taken at their funeral/thanksgiving services to the Yeadon War Memorial Fund. Members of the War Memorial Committee agreed that the money should go towards a tribute to the two men.
This year’s Remembrance Day Service for Yeadon people, including the laying of wreaths, is to be held at the War Memorial Stone in front of Yeadon Methodist Church at 11.30am on Sunday, November 10.
