TWO fundraisers from Craven Jewellers in Yeadon have completed the Great North Run in aid of charity.
Malcolm Sparkes and Beverley Warrior raised more than £1,700 by taking part in the event on September 8. The money will be shared between Children with Cancer UK and The Stroke Association charities.
Malcolm said: “Having raised money over the past 20 to 30 years for various charities – Children with Cancer UK was a charity I hadn’t previously supported and I was inspired by the advert on TV. Especially as a father, I felt this was a very worthy cause.”
Beverley said: “I chose the run for the Stroke Association after my mum passed away in May this year, she’d suffered a major stroke four years previously.”
Beverley was running in a half marathon for the first time. She said support from family, friends and Craven Jewellers and encouragement on the day kept her going.
